Rebecca is Co-artistic Director and co-founder of indelabilityarts. She holds both Acting (USQ) and Education degrees and currently works as an actor, workshop facilitator, producer and director. As a director, Rebecca’s major theatre credits include Look Mum... No Hands!!! (Indel-ABILITY arts; Co-Director) & Love me;, Rebecca was also co-artistic director and actor of award winning ThreeSisters productions (Bronte & Catholic School Girls). After living in the UK and immersing herself in a variety of diverse theatre practices Rebecca returned to Brisbane and spent a year touring for Shake & Stir Theatre Company performing works such as Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Statespeare, Tragic Magic, Bard to the Bone, Popular, Say it to my Facebook, Hamlet (2013) ...

Catarina holds both Arts (Acting) and Education degrees from QUT and Griffith respectively and works as a freelance director, actor, voice-over artist, mentor and teacher. Why We're Great >
Alex has always had a love and passion for the theatre, creative arts and performing. She started drama classes and performing at 7 years of age, which continued throughout her schooling. Growing up in the Northern Rivers, as a child and teenager she was an active member of Lismore Theatre Company, performing 2-3 times a year in youth productions and pantomimes. She wrote her first one-act play in year 12.
Alex also plays the guitar, sings and love writing poetry, songs, scripts and blogging.

Why We're Great >
Michel is an emerging performer. He was a participant in the University of Queensland reference committee three-year study, ‘Constructing Futures': An ARC Linkage Project' investigating how young adults with intellectual disability and their parents plan for the future.
In 2017 Michel was honoured to speak at QLD's Parliament Building at the launch of "All Abilities Queensland: Opportunities For All State Disability Plan 2017–2020", also performing in the QLD government's online web and social media campaign about people living with disability.

Why We're Great >
Karen has performed extensively in Australia and overseas, acting and singing at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in “Sherwoodstock”; the West End musical “Hair” at the Old Vic Theatre in London; her original works in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. She has been a part of various festivals all over Australia.
In 2013 Karen joined Performing Detention, a residency piece at the Metro arts Theatre, also performing at the Brisbane Powerhouse. She worked in 2014 with OzFrank Theatre Company and the Villanova Players.

Madeleine Little is an actor and theatremaker based in Brisbane. Since 2015, she has been a member of the indelabilityarts Ensemble, co-devising the show Love Me; and co-devising and performing in Look Mum... No Hands!!! [The Legless Bar Years], most recently at Adelaide Fringe. In 2018, representing indelabilityarts, Madeleine performed in Restless Dance Theatre's Helpmann-nominated work Intimate Space at Festival 2018. In 2017, with indelabilityarts, Madeleine worked with Khemistry on the Queensland Government's ‘All Abilities' Campaign, starring in The No Pile music video.

Jack joined indelabilityarts’ first as part of the workshop series in 2016 and through that has become a member of the ensemble this year. Growing up in Adelaide Jack was diagnosed with a brain tumour at a young age and spent quite a bit of time in treatment over the years. Jack identifies as Autistic and is a proud member of the Deaf community and as such was part of a signing choir and studied drama at school. In 2016 he appeared in his first short film in the role of Milton in Top Of The World, directed by Drew Russell.

Why We're Great >
David is a singer, dancer and actor who enjoys playing comedy and writing his own songs. David believes in equality and acceptance – he wants to be seen as a performer in his own right regardless of his disability. David sings with the Voicebox Choir. He has trained with Backbone Youth Arts and is part of the Light Ensemble, appearing in performances for 2High Festival, Undercover Artist Festival at QTC and numerous other presentations as part of the ensemble. David attended CAMP Geelong in 2015 with Back to Back Theatre.

Why We're Great >
Laura brings a diverse background of skills to the indelabilityarts team. She spent many of her young years dancing, holds a teachers certificate in tapping and after she left her hometown of Boonah moved into Brisbane to expand on her repertoire of skills. She spent three years studying Musical Theatre with Harvest Rain Theatre Company and took on many roles including; Brooke Wyndham (Legally Blonde), Penelope Pennywise (Urinetown), Clarissa (Little Women). She toured nationally as an ensemble member with Grease - The Arena Experience and as a Dance Captain for Hairspray - The Arena Spectacular.

Why We're Great >
At the age of five Myra took her very first ballet class; Tap and Jazz very soon followed, then singing and musicals. For five years she danced with The Brisbane City Youth Ballet, and in their 2011 production of Sleeping Beauty was Coulante, Fleur de farine fairy. She also danced with The Queensland Ballet for three years in their Junior Extension Program, performing with them in 2010 at their 50th Anniversary Gala. In 2016 Myra toured with Harvest Rain Theatre Company as a dance captain in Hairspray Arena Spectacular National Tour.

indelabilityarts is an inclusive theatre company that provides professional artistic and training opportunities for artists and community members who identify as having a disability. Our professional ensemble creates original work that communicates the lived experience of each artist across a range of performance modes to challenge the perceptions of audiences and industry alike. We further nurture the social, personal, physical and mental wellbeing of participants through our workshop series that offer ongoing skills development and training for community members with a passion and interest in the performing arts. Through our inclusive practice we aim to foster acceptance and understanding for those who usually feel marginalised, discriminated against, or excluded from arts practice so that they can access and make work that both reflects their experience and caters to their needs.

Our Mission

Providing creative opportunities for Queensland Artists with disabilities
​
indelabilityarts seeks to fill a gap within arts and disability service provision, particularly for school leavers, by offering ongoing, skills-based training in the arts and creating professional artistic opportunities for community members with disabilities. In undertaking actor training, our workshop participants improve their physical and spatial awareness, develop their social and communication skills and therefore their confidence, and by expressing their identity and discovering a place where they belong, they also improve their mental wellbeing. Our professional ensemble members take a leadership role within the workshops, mentoring less experienced participants, passing on their skills, and being positive role models within the community. Our workshop series directly benefits participants, their families and social networks, but also has a broader social impact by working to overcome barriers to participation in the arts and therefore wider social prejudices.
More broadly within the community we are working to connect different organisations – from the arts industry to the disability sector – to promote accessibility and inclusivity within arts practices and community spaces. So far we have connected culturally across arts, disability, and other foundations including: the Endeavour Foundation, Billy Blue School of Design, Brisbane Powerhouse, La Boite, MND and Me Foundation, Redland Performing Arts Centre, Arts Centre Gold Coast, Creative Access, Communify, Homunculus Theatre, and the Down Syndrome Association of Queensland to help bridge the gap between artists and audiences with disabilities and arts and cultural organisations.
